Yes, the beta release is getting close.
Doing package testing now.

Re:gcc 64 bit
BTW: please don't try to install the gcc 64bit package just yet if you do see it. Wait until the announcement that it's available. There are a couple of minor adjustments (internal) that need to be made.

Re:gcc 64 bit
Thanks for the new GCC! I am currently installing a clean SUA and see how it works.

When will you release the source? Are there any test results available?

Re:gcc 64 bit
Yes, the source will be released.
We were hoping to get the final information from Microsoft for the shared library loading so there would
be one thump of source.

No performance testing results that I have.
Still calling it Beta right because of the lack of shared library support.

Re:gcc 64 bit
I've been compiling couple of essential tools and all seem to work fine. What is especially nice is that there haven't been any need to patch configure scripts. Lack of g obviously means that there's quite a lot that cannot be compiled at this time. And yes, shared libraries would be nice to have.

Re:gcc 64 bit
I'd love to play around with the compiler but unfortunately I'm snowed under with work.
What version of gcc and binutils is it?

Re:gcc 64 bit
Thanks for reminding me about g .
I think all the work for g is done (I'll check with D.).

Re:gcc 64 bit
The gcc version is 4.6.0.
This should be good for the folks looking to do more HPC/scientific work.

Re:gcc 64 bit
I am having a chance to "play" with the 64-bit gcc too.
I've built OpenSSL and it's running through tests now.
A lot, lot easier to get this made/built with gcc
